{Pretty Personal} ~ Rob & Caroline’s Proposal

20 Jul

I’ve known Rob for about 12 years {jeeze…we’re getting old} and he sent me an email letting me know that he was going to be visiting the USA – specifically LA – for a few days, that he was ready to pop the question, and was looking for some advice on where to do it…he wanted a beautiful location, but not with a ton of onlookers.   It’s a tough ask in Los Angeles, but I knew the perfect spot on the Palos Verdes Peninsula, so I sent him the info and he worked out the details.

As they live in London, I had never met Caroline before, which worked beautifully in Rob’s favor…his ruse was that they were meeting me for breakfast, that I was very punctual, and usually pretty dressed up, so they needed to do the same.  Therefore, the girl sitting on a rock on the nature trail with a camera overlooking the ocean in yoga pants, a t-shirt, and Chucks, was not who Caroline was looking for that morning.

The only challenge for me was keeping the other early morning risers out of the area, but the second I let them in on the proposal secret, they quickly scattered.  Though they were out of my field of view and unbeknownst to me, they did end up lingering on the trail to watch.

So Rob led Caroline to the the proposal spot, set the shot up for me perfectly as instructed, and got down on one knee.  She said, “yes!”

…and those lingering onlookers….well…they cheered.

…and it was perfect.

As always, I’m humbled by the honor of catching such an incredible moment, so thank you, Rob and Caroline, and congrats on taking the next step on your beautiful journey!
